For Immediate Release (Toronto, CA) 06/15/2012 — Winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Hamilton Film Festival, the independently produced Canadian feature film LUCKY 7 announces it’s International Premiere at the 15 Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) June 2012. It is the directorial debut of Writer/Director Stephen Hayes so it is a great honour to been included in such a prestigious festival.
Taking place on the gritty, urban streets of Hamilton, the same streets that once hatched the real “French Connection”, and the nerve centre for organized crime in Ontario, is the backdrop for our story of loss, love, and redemption centered on our main character Patrick Farley, aka Lucky 7, who returns to his home town after a nine year absence only to find himself being framed for murder.
Attending the festival marks an exciting development for the production team. “I am thrilled to have LUCKY 7 included in this year’s edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival. I was shocked! Our little indie that everyone has worked so hard on is out on the world scene in a big way,” states Writer/Director, Stephen Hayes. Producer, Tara Boire “To get into this festival is, well, almost unbelievable, when you think of the thousands or thousands of films submitted each year from all over the world. We are very grateful for the support of Telefilm Canada as this festival is the gateway to the Asian Markets.”
Screenings will take place on June 17, 2012, Hall 1, Shanghai Wanda International Cinema at 18:30; June 21, 2012, Hall 2 Cathay Theatre with a Q&A with Lead Actor – Lucky 7 – Philippe Buckland and Producer Tara Boire at 18:30; and June 24, 2012, Hall 2, Kai Yuan Med Cinema at 15:45
