With major development funding in place, producers of Empress of Texas are at Cannes International Film Festival 2012 to pursue an A-list actress for their heroine and a distributor. Also, several directors are in consideration.
Golden World Films, LLC (GWF), based in Houston, Texas, is the production company behind the film. GWF’s primary objective is to produce high quality films for domestic and international audiences.
Empress is a biopic based on the life of Texas icon who brought culture to the wild west town of Houston and mental health issues to national attention. The story revolves around a romance of an oil heiress and a German army officer before and during the WWI. The daughter of Texas’ first native born governor, Empress follows the early years of tragedy that shapes the heroine into a woman of determination who triumphs over adversity and uses her fortune to benefit others.
